 Hydrogen needs YOUR help
maybe as most people notice, we have released the new hydrogen 0.9.4.
also a new unstable 0.9.5 version with many new features is under development.
actual you can not find many informations about the new release on our website. we hope this will be solve in next time.
what ever, one thing where you can help, is to create some nice video tutorials.
of course for the new 0.9.4 and higher versions. please not for versions < 0.9.4.

i think all kinds of videos are welcome. also all languages.
of course english videos reach most people and will preferred.
the easiest way to integrate your videos is, that you host them at one of the several video hosts. (youtube and other)
also it would be great if you handle only small chapters for each video.
so later, maybe we can index them into a big video tutorial.
please publish the videos under a free license model. this is very important for us. and of course, please keep the contend free from sexism, racism, defamations and other off-topics.

here are some videos i have made. and yes, this are not the best examples :).

under linux one good way to create desktop videos is the program "recordmydesktop". recordmydesktop can record sound from jack output ports. the project page from rmd says that all development is stopped. to use rmd with current libtheora you have to set the "--v_bitrate" option on command line. without this option the result is very bad.
to control rmd very easy direct in hydrogen, ihave create a patch for the current trunk revision 1462. see attachment.
the patch add an rmd menu.
you have to start hydrogen from console with -r option ( hydrogen -r ).

here you can set
1. a fixed window size
"Set Window Size to 1024 x 768" ( good for nice desktop videos)
2. start the recorder using jack outputports for sound. ("Hydrogen:out_L" "Hydrogen:out_R")
"Start record"
3. stop the recorder
"Stop record"
4. "Stop encoding" only available after stop record. this skip the encoding process if you don't want the video. the encoding process can take a long time. so sometimes if you make a bad video its nice to skip the encoding, to start directly a new trail.

after recording you find the videos in your working directory. they called h2-video.ogv, h2-video-1.ogv, h2-video-2.ogv and so on.

important! if you press "Start record" you must see a frame around your window.
if there is no frame, something goes wrong and rmd don't start correctly.

an know error is, if you place the window directly on a desktop border(display border), rmd will not start up.
place the h2 window without contact to any display borders.
an second error is, sometimes the jack output port don't fit as expected.
than you have to restart jack and hydrogen.
