What Kind of MIDI device can I use for Linux? I have a M-Audio Firewire Audiophile, would that work? What do I need in order to connect my drum brain to my computer via MIDI if my M-Audio does not work?

go here for the scoop
http://usb-midi-fw.sourceforge.net/

you need to compile the updated firmware for older devices such as oxygen8 but all the new stuff like keystation works right out the box so
I wonder if even the newer oxygens and others work out the box as well.

Let me know!

Thanks

For your M-Audio Firewire Audiophile (alias BeBoB devices) look here;

http://freebob.sourceforge.net/index.php/Main_Page

(FFADO project - Free Firewire Audio Drivers) there are many devices firewire supported (medium to high level).
