I just stumbled upon this site: http://smithultd.com/drum-pack-volume-1/

This guy has created a HUGE sample library with loads of articulations and is sharing it for free. I *think* he mentioned somewhere that he started out with this project to use the samples in Hydrogen, but I don't think he's created a Hydrogen drumkit that you can just load - it's all .wav samples. The whole sample pack is 1.66GB - I don't know if that is too big for Hydrogen to handle. Anyway, I don't have the slightest clue about how to do it, but maybe someone could make a Hydrogen drumkit out of it? We could drop a word on his blog to see what he thinks about it.

Edit: when unpacked, the size is 2.8 GB - pretty big!

This would be quite interesting for people who want to use their edrum with hydrogen with a most realistic sound.. Hydrogen puts all the samples into your RAM, so you would need 2.6 GB of free ram if you're using the uncompressed samples!

I had a closer look at the samples, and the thing is that you've got loads of different tunings for each pad. For example, for the snare drum you have: 7 different pitch tunings, each with open/loose/tight snare and, in turn, each one of these variations has crosstick/head centre/head edge/rim/rimshot, each with their 16 velocity layers! Crazy! If you attempted to load all the samples, with a slot for each and every articulation, you'd need... over 200 slots! Not very practical or necessary. This actually means that there is a very, very high number of different kits you could set up, but each one would just use a fraction of the total samples, so RAM wouldn't necessarily be a problem. So I reckon it would be best to leave it to each user to set up the drumkit they prefer, or maybe it's possible to create presets for a specific sample library? That way you can download the samples and keep them in a predefined folder, and users could just share kit presets that would load the necessary samples - I don't know if this is possible though, just a thought.
