Clicking noise in exported wav

Hi,

I'm new to Linux (I'm using Ubuntu 8.04) and even newer to Hydrogen, Jack, etc. I'm using Hydrogen 0.9.3 as obtained yesterday through Synaptic in Ubuntu.

I've created a test drum pattern in Hydrogen with the UltraAcousticKit and it sounds good when played in Hydrogen.

When I export it to a wav file, however, there's a click sound on every beat where there are two or more simultaneous drum sounds (for example, kick and snare at the same time). If the beat only has one drum sound, it sounds fine in the exported wav.

I've got the 'Audio driver' preference set to JACK - buffer size 1024, sample rate 44100, polyphony 64. I tried other drivers but they sound crappy in Hydrogen.

I expect I'm making a dumb newbie mistake somewhere in the configuration. Any help appreciated.

I have the exact same problem with the posted Mac OS X binary with CoreAudio. Midi export is similarly borked. I'm hoping someone will eventually compile a newer version that might have these bugs fixed...

I'm new to Hydrogen too and I'm having the same problem. I can even hear the clicking in Hydrogen when I play back the patterns before I export the wav file. I messed around with volume and a couple other settings for each drum but it didn't help. I think it might have something to do with the pitches of the pairs of drums that are playing together because I hear it when the bass drum plays with snare, low tom, or mid tom, but not when the bass drum plays with high tom or cymbals, etc. Also, it seems that certain drums have the problem (Kick 2 in Roland TR-626 kit) but others don't (Kick 1 in Roland TR-626 kit). Have you tried switching kits or using different sounds within the kit? Sorry I can't answer the question of why this happens, but maybe you'll be able to find a workaround by switching drums or kits if you haven't already figured out how to solve the problem.

this problem is fixed in all versions >= 0.9.4beta2.
and or, the clicking sound comes only if you override the output. the master peak lever have to be under 1. all values over 1 produce click sounds. and in versions < 0.9.4beta2 extreme clicks and plop noises.

I'd like to thank you wolke, a lot... because I was going crazy with my last export and was trying different stuff to get the noise off... (none of them had worked doh :P). Thanks a bunch once again, I'll share my stuff as soon as I complete it (yeah I'm all on W.I.P's).
bye *waves*

Wonderful thread.
Version 0.9.6 works well. Thanks!
