Sounds get confused when switching from Linux to Windows version

Hi, I use Hydrogen 0.9.6 on Windows 7. I have loaded .h2song files that I formerly created on PC running Linux Ubuntu. They all use Millo-Drums_v.1 drumkit. But, on Windows, this drumkit won't play unless I import it as user drumkit, and when I do it, some parts of kit gets notes from another. For example, what was Closed HH gets assigned to Tom Low.

Is there a workaround for this? Or, at least, is it possible to move or copy notes from one instrument inside pattern to another? Thanks.

hi Sima

in hydrogen the 'position' of an instrument in the drumkit (that is the 'line' that the instrument is on in the pattern editor) determines the (midi) note

so when there is a shift in instruments this may cause 'confusion'

did you import the drumkit (in ubuntu an windows) via the download dialogue ?  or did you download it from an other location and then import it manually ?

grtz

Hi Thijs,

Thanks for reply. In Ubuntu I installed Hydrogen from Software Center or via apt-get install, and Millo drumkit was already there. In Windows I had to downoload it from Sourceforge, here.

Is there a better place for downloads?

Additionally, I have now deleted drumkit and installed it via Hydrogen's Tools / Import dialog, but problem persists.

Ok, at last I find the solution myself, so I put it here in case someone else has similar problem. Solution is to copy all drumkit folder from /usr/share/ in Linux to C:\Program Files (x86)\Hydrogen\data\drumkits in Windows. That way Hydrogen will upon start recognize it as system drumkit and will list instruments in expected order.

By the way, thanks for making this great piece of software!
