Importing instruments & saving libraries problem

I'm using Ubuntu Studio 9.04 and i create my own drumkits in Hydrogen, but i've been having problems with saving drumkits: some instruments do not save, but disappear after i load the drumkit again.

I generally sample my own instruments and save the WAV samples in a folder like "something drumkit," and then load all the samples into the drumkit. However, i sometimes i download samples from bit torrent or use friends' samples in different folders. When i do this, the instrument is there only during the first time i use the drumkit. If i save the library and the song, then load it again, the instrument is gone. Nothing there.

How can i prevent this from happening? Is this some kind of bug or something i'm doing wrong?

Hi!

What version of hydrogen are you using? 0.9.4 ? And could you describe a little bit more detailed how you save the drumkit?
Thanks,
Sebastian

I'm using v0.9.4 and I save the sound libraries by selecting Project>New, then selecting Instruments>Clear All, then loading sound layers (usually just one) into the empty instrument places. After that, i select Instrument>Save Library. I've even tried exporting libraries and reloading them, but i get the same problem of certain sound layers being lost.

Hi!

Is it possible that there are special characters in those filenames(like whitespaces or non-ascii letters)?
And did i understand it right that not all layers are lost?

I usually only load one layer per instrument, so only some of the instruments were lost, not all. It's possible there were "white spaces" (what's that?) in the file names of the samples...what kind of conditions should a file name have? My own samples are usually something like "snare1" or HH2", but the other samples i downloaded or got from friends are always different. Is that probably why i'm not able to save them in the drumkit?

Well "whitespaces" are characters which are not visible, like a tabulator or just the "space"-character.. So "Snare1" should be ok, but it could be that hydrogen stumbles upon "Snare 1".
Furthermore hydrogen 0.9.4 has problems with non-ascii filenames, like "?????.h2drumkit". ? stands for any non-ascii symbol here (like german umlauts..)
Can you reproduce the problem and see which samples get not saved?

I've been taking other samples with names like "Open Hat," copying and pasting them into a different folder with names like "HH1" and i haven't had any problems yet. The white spaces seemed to be why they weren't saving. Thanks.
