LADSPA plugins - have pity on a novice

Hi,

I am absolutely lost when it comes to installing the LADSPA plugins, getting Hydrogen to recognize them, etc. I'm running v0.9.4 on an Intel Mac, and have no programming background whatsoever, which undoubtedly contributes to my problems.

Can someone explain what I need to do here? I've read that I need FFTW, but upon downloading it I realized I had no idea what to do with the file to install it. Same with the LADSPA plugins. If it requires some programming I'm willing to learn but even then I don't know where to begin.
