Can I get the pattern editor to follow the song editor?

The answer is probably very simple and I've probably had a brain fart in my search terms when trying to find this information, but I have no idea how to do this.

Okay, I'm making a song that has a slightly complicated (timing-wise) guitar part at the beginning that plays by itself until I play three chords, at which point I have Hydrogen punctuate it with some hits. It goes through twice before the drums come in full time for the rest of the song.

I start the song with eight beats from Hydrogen to give me a count, but I tend to be slightly off when I hit those three chords. I can get those straight, but there's a time change (from 145bpm to 130bpm) when the drums come in full time and I wind up a little off on that part. I'm fairly certain that part of it is that I'm paying too much attention to what's going on in my computer screens, but I feel like I could rectify it without looking away if I could get the pattern editor to follow the song, i.e., show whatever pattern is playing at the moment.

I can do that, right? What am I missing?

maybe using the Director window with song tags could help (See this) or using the metronome ?

AFAIK there is no option to have the pattern editor automatically switch to the 'now playing' pattern (due to the fact that you can have multiple patterns active at the same time there is now way of knowing what pattern the pattern editor should display)

Damn. I didn't think of that.

Thank you very much.

Here's a thought, though: What if it could show the combined patterns in one pattern as it plays? Just to see it as it's happening?
