Saviing/Exporting

I've just started using Hydrogen 9.4, which has been on my mac for a while, but I've not done anything with it. My problem is that having created a song, I can't save it as anything other than a h2song type file: this is the only option I'm presented with. I want to save stuff as a wav file so i can export to Garageband for for use as a drum track. The manual doesn't seem to cover this.

How do I save as a wav file??? How do I export???

Thanks

Hi Shelley!

There is an option named "Export song" or something like this in the main menu (shortcut on OS X is cmd-e). If you're using an intel mac, i would like to suggest to upgrade to a newer version of hydrogen.
I've just build an app bundle for 32/64bit intel macs (see this thread: http://hydrogen.popez.org/hcms/node/1963)

I got Export Song, but it will only find wav files. My mac runs on 10.4, so I fear the new Hydrogen I downloaded from you as per your suggestion won't run as it's a bit too advanced.

What do you mean by "it will only find wav files" ? I thought you wanted to export it as wav?

Yeah, i'm sorry that i can't come up with ppc builds, i don't know how to build these with Snow Leopard on an intel mac :-/

I mean that when I go into Export Songs, the pop up window is looking for wav files in the file type drop down. It looks like I sussed this one out, btw. I just change the file extension from h2song to wav and the file changes so i can then drop it into Garageband.

hi shelly

changing the extention of a h2song file to wav does not make it a WAV file.

you need to go to Project -Export song  (or hit Ctrl + E)

then you will get a window that allows you to give your export file (a WAV) a name + select the location that it needs to ba save to

This will generate a WAV file that you can use in other applications (like garageband)

btw i have created a ticket to add more info to the manual

Hi All :)

I can't save my file in a wav format with the 0.9.6 version, the "export" button only save a small 44 bytes file that is empty of music file :(...

Please can you help me ?

strange, i just tested it again and everything seems to work just fine here

where did you get your 0.9.6 version?

there seems to be an issue with the 0.9.6 version that mutes the instruments after exporting to seperate tracks : if i export to a single track everything is ok, then i export to separate tracks > OK.  but if i then export to a single track again there is only 1 instrument that gets exported + when i play the song after this export (in hydrogen) the instruments are muted.

(i tried the same thing in the latest version (trunk) and this problem seems to be fixed)

maybe you are experiencing something like this ?

hi thijs,

the unmute problem is fixed in rev 2448. now it is possible to export an single track after exporting to separate tracks. also all instruments are unmuted after closing the export window.

Hello, for my part the problem is quite simple, there is not a single way to save in a WAV file...separate tracks or not :)...the OK button keeps deadly silent :)...

could you maybe start hydrogen from a terminal and see if there is any debug/error info that shows up in the terminal when you export the song ?  if there is please post it here
