Strange distortion

Hi,

I'm using both version 0.9.4 and 0.9.6b and experience a strangely distorted sound in Hydrogen. Funny thing is: In exported WAVs the sound is superb. Needless to say, that I checked the mixer for a suitable level.

I have two files online for you to listen:

Distorted (recorded via Reaper using the Focusrite Saffire sound driver), this is what I hear using different Hydrogen Drum Sets

Undistorted (this is the exported file, funnily enough, this is slower and has a lower freqency than in Hydrogen.)

Any ideas?

Hopefully,
HyHajo

sounds like some sort of sample freq mismatch.  can you check your audio settings and post back here (settings of reaper/soundcard?jackpilot/...)?

are you using jackpilot?

Hello,

I don't think this is an isolated incident regarding HyHajo's problem.  The same exact thing happens to me with 0.9.6b in Snow Leopard.  I especially get a nasty clipping on the kick.  When I export a wav., it sounds great but is really, really slow.  Shame, I had a good groove going...:)

Hi trans!

Which sounddriver are you using? CoreAudio or Jack? Does this happen with every drumkit? I'm runnning hydrogen on Lion and (before) on Snow Leopard and never experienced those clipping sounds, so i think it is nothing general on OS X. But let's see what causes that problem..

...I checked and the clipping is happening with every set although it sounds different depending on which set I use.  It sounds like a clipping or hissing noise.  I am running under Core Audio/Snow Leopard.  I am planning on upgrading to Lion soon and it will be interesting to see if the problem goes away.
