Hydrogen ON/OFF midi events

Hi everybody,

I'm new on this forum and with Hydrogen and I have a simple question about midi events on hydrogen. I've looked for a long time on google but I couldn't find any useful information (I told I'm a newbie ;) ). I use a drum pad (Millenium sixta pad) which sends midi notes to Hydrogen through a midi to USB cable in order to start samples. I would like to know if it is possible to set Hydrogen to turn on the sample on the first hit and to turn it off on the second ? I only found how to MUTE/UNMUTE the sound but it acts on all my pads and I want to mute only one of them (the one I'm hitting).

Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english (I'm swiss !)

Hi Manu

are you talking about starting/stopping a loop ?

you might find some useful info on the 'live usage' page

hey,

as default hydrogen ignore note off messages. you can unchecked the check-box "ignore note off messages" in preferences midi tab.

now hydrogen start a sample(instrument) if an corresponding note on message receive. and hydrogen stop playing the instrument(sample) if an corresponding note off message will receive.

trigger drum pads normally send no note off messages. in this case you have to use an midi mapper which can handle this for you.
here you have two choices. 1. define one pad to send an note on message and an other to send the corresponding note off message via the midi mapper. 2. use a midi mapper to toggle the note message from one pad. first hit send an note on and a second hit send an note off message.

try http://das.nasophon.de/mididings/ which can do such things.

Hi all !

To Thijs: No I wasn't talking about turning on and off a loop but the note of an instrument that I've replaced by a sample, but thanks for the answer :)

To Wolke: Thanks a lot, I might have found what I was looking for but now I need to learn how it works ;) With what I read so far, it seems to do exactly what I want. I'll let you know when it works ;)

Thanks again,
