Interface Theme

i was wondering if there is a normal way to change the UI colors? The default theme is, IMO, ugly. (sorry to devs, I dont mean to offend. Hydrogen is a great application)

I've found the file ~/.hydrogen/hydrogen.conf and I'm now editing the <UI_style> element.

Is there a way to config this type of thing without touching in xml?

The styling ability for hydrogen is very limited at the moment. The main problem is that a lot of graphics are pixel-graphics (no vector graphics) and the colours of the gui are used in some of the pictures. So if you want to create a complete new style, you have to change all graphics.

My goal is an interface which is build out of vector graphics and stylesheets, but it's a long way to go..

Indeed limited! I was able to change some colors [1] but it continues to look very bad....

Your solution seems to be good.

I don't think hydrogen looks ugly or bad. Most people I know prefer simple GUIs. I'm sure you have only a limited amount of time to work on Hydrogen, so I would suggest to work on funtionality instead of look.

Hydrogen rules!!!!
