Playback question for Windows

Hello there

I have installed the file hydrogen_0.9.6-alpha1.exe on a Windows 7 64 Bit machine.

If I open Hydrogen I can create sounds and hear the playback correctly.

Everything seems fine.

A friend has now sent me a ".h2song" file.

When I open the hydrogen song file and press play I hear no sound as the cursor moves to the right but I can see blocks my friend has programmed into the file.

How can I hear the sounds in the file my friend has sent me?

Perhaps this is something simple I have overlooked.

Many thanks if someone can give me a tip about how to solve this problem.

Paul

Hi Paul

a .h2song file does not contain any sounds, it just contains the 'notes' or maybe better the 'drum hits' of your song.  the actual sounds are in the soundlibrary

my guess is that your friend has a drumkit installed that you dont have installed

if your friend is using a standard drumkit, you can easily install that drumkit (see this part of the manual), if he has created his own drumkit then he can export it, mail it to you and you can install it (info about export/import can be found in the manual too)

hope this helps

Hi Thijs

Thanks for your quick reply.

I opened the h2song in a text editor and saw the lines

<drumkit>GMkit</drumkit>  (This is okay because this is also my standard drumkit)

and

<filename>C:/Program Files/Hydrogen/data/drumkits/GMkit/kick_Dry_b.flac</filename>

I changed the path for my system to be as follows:

<filename>C:/Program Files (x86)/Hydrogen/data/drumkits/GMkit/kick_Dry_b.flac</filename>

After that the sound played correctly.

aha, ok

that is the 'absolute path' bug you ran into. good news : this bug has been fixed

the way you made it work is the correct way, so : good job !  :-)
