New UltraAcousticKit

So, here is my new UltraAcousticKit.

I created it with very nice acoustic drum samples from my Roland Fantom-S workstation. It has many nuances for each drum sound, letting you create realistic drum grooves - combined with a bit of "human velocity" and "human time", of course :-)

It is the first kit to have 32 drum sounds. It includes two sets of hi hats (6 sounds), snares (8) and kicks (3), as well as ride cymbals (2), crashes (3), tambourine (3), and - yes! - a cow bell! :-P

2. Hydrogen is a wonderful drum computer with a few missings but i think in version 1 i will be realy satisfied.

3. The Drumset you've made is ver very good.
I like it.
It's the natural sound that i search for.

Hi!

I grabbed UltraAcoustic source file in tar.gz, did tar zxvf Ultrasomething.tar.gz, and he created a directory with only two files: one .h2song and the other .h2song ; that is, i didnt get ant wav file... Am I missing something here?? ...because i saw people saying its cool stuff, but i cant get it work... :(

Thanx in advance!!

The tar.gz file contains a *.h2song (demo song) and a *.h2drumkit (drumkit for hydrogen).

You can install the drumkit via the Drumkit Manager inside hydrogen.

1) I downloaded the UltraAcousticKit.
2) un-archived it. There are 2 files: UltraAcousticKit.h2drumkit and UltraAcousticKit Demo.h2song
3) Run Hydrogen and open drumkit manager.
4)Click on Import tab, browse to the UltraAcousticKit.h2drumkit and import it. Message says "Drumkit imported into /root/.hydrogen/data/
5) I can see all the new instruments in the mixer but when I click the play for a particular instrument there is no sound. When I load the demo song, there is no sound.
6) in the ~/.hydrogen/data directory there is a folder called UltraAcousticKit with all the wav files. I can play them with another wav player fine. The standard kit for Hydrogen plays fine also.

you probably shouldn't be running hyd as root. repeat the import process as a regular user and try again.

running as user makes no difference.

found my problem. I didn't have the wav files in the right location.

i got the same problem, any other drumkit works proper, even the UltraAcoustic causes problems. Where do you place the wav-files? I can?t see them. I think the wav. files are part of the h2drumkit file.

You do not have to do anything manually. Just go to the drum kit manager, import tab, select the kit file and press "import" - then select the kit in the kit list.

this is what i thought i had to do-but i dont know why, it doesn?t work. Every other kit out of your download-area works fine exept the ultra acoustic. thank you for your help

I can't get this kit to work either (I'm using the latest Windows build of Hydrogen).

I decompress it to a folder, open the drumkit manager, find the kit file, and click import. I get a dialog saying that it imported successfully, but it won't show up in the list. Even if I move the kit file into the data folder manually and start Hydrogen, it doesn't show up.

"""
Known issues

* In not possible to install a drumkit because the program uses ?tar? to unpack the drumkit.
"""

So...until I find an alternative way (e.g: not using tar) there's no way to install a drumkit using the drumkit manager.

But...you can uncompress the *.h2drumkit file into the data directory. the h2drumkit file is a compressed tar archive (tar.gz)

Maybe compress the drumkits with the free (LGPL) .7z file format?
It provides great compression.

Are you using a .tar library, or spawning a command? I ask because there *are* windows (command-line) programs that will undo .tar, .tgz, etc... If you're using a library... don't ask me ;-)

I am spawing the tar command, not using the tar library (yet..).
What I need is a decent and small tar program for windows

but the 7z format both on Linux and Windows and provides good compression

Yeah, I tried that. No go.

**EDIT**
just found this: http://rumkin.com/software/untgz
a 15(!)k un-tar-gz for win32, open-source (GPL)
supports long file names

http://unxutils.sourceforge.net/

The most useful and most used unixy utils ported to native windows (ie only dependency is MS VC runtime).

The 'tar' weighs in at 112K. 'gzip'/'gunzip' is 48K.

The only problem here is that 'tar' doesn't handle compressed archives, so it would have to be a 2-step process.

PS To ease your mind, these are the GNU versions ie fully open source (source available, of course)

I'm able to get this kit and others to work by untar-ing the files in cygwin (a unix emulator shell for win32) then moving the kit folders into my .hydrogen data folder.
