Problem compiling

I'm new to Linux so sorry if this is something trivial...

I can't compile 0.8.2, at the end of make it complains:
[here's the end of the messages only)

thread -ldl -lrt /usr/lib/ /usr/lib/ -lcurl -L/usr/kerberos/lib -lssl -lcrypto -lgssapi_krb5 -lkrb5 -lcom_err -lk5crypto -lresolv -ldl -L/usr/lib /usr/lib/ -lz -lpthread -lm -lglib-2.0 ../lib/libhydrogen.a -lpthread
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lcurl
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: *** [hydrogenPlayer] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/download/hydrogen-0.8.2/tools'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/download/hydrogen-0.8.2'
make: *** [all] Error 2

So what's going wrong? I think I have Jack, QT etc installed ok on my machine.
