Hi,

If you're interrested, Michael Kingston is making two free drumkit recorded with 3 Shure SM57 (toms & snare), 2 AKG 414 (cymbales), Shure Beta 52A (kick) and one Rode NTV.

The first, Easyrider is 90mo, 24bit 48Khz
and the second, Ruffrider is 20mo, 16bits 44.1Khz

You can listen a demo here:
http://kingstondrums.bombsquad.org/

Maybe it could be a good drumkit for you ;-)

I'm really interested in good drum sounds, but the link shows me only 3 demo. Where I can find the samples? is a work in progress?

just a quick question about the drum manager editor.
I have the NS-7 kit wav files and they're all at different velocities.
could I enter like say the snare drum, all the layers in the editor and use that a a multi-layered kit for my setup?

also if the answer is yes, do i start with the loudest as the first layer or the last?

I've kinda made Easyrider mapping for Hydrogen, but there's a porblem: Hydrogen doesn't play 24-bit FLAC's correctly, so only wavs work (just wanted to make it smaller converting samples to FLAC, but...).

What's the problem with these 24bit FLAC files?

Hydrogen says they're not supported, than playbacks samples with strong distortion, constantly complaining about peak is > 1.

Well this sounds like a bug :)
Can you send me one of this flac files via email?

Ok, loading 24 FLAC now is perfect and faster than before!
Currently the code is in CVS.

I'll wait for release with that drumkit, through, 'coz support in CVS HEAD will be no much use to folks using Hydrogen out-of-box, i.e. installed along with Linux distro.

I hate to ask it, because the only right answer would be "when it's done", but still... Are there going to happen release any time soon? The reason why I ask is above.

no release soon...I'm sorry but it will be ready when ready :)
A tarball is ok for you? Can't you just convert the 24bit flac into 16 bit flac or 24bit wave?

I am perfectly allright with 24-bit wav's, and I can use CVS snapshot as well, but see above - what about users? 16-bit FLACs aren't fun (why downgrade quality?), 24-bit wav's are ok except the drumkit's is 90Mb in such a case.

I know it's a bit tricky for a generic user but we cannot release the new version now since it's still unfinished.
There's no difference between flac and wave, when a flac is loaded into RAM is always decompressed, so it will take the same memory as the wave.

How about not to release a new version yet, but release a new build?
