I wanted try Hydrogen but there was no link to a Windows installer on the website eventually I found a link to it on the forum.

The download was pretty slow, 30-50 kb/s I think. Faster server would be nice. Nightly builds wouldnt be wrong either.

I noticed that the executable (hydrogen.exe) does not have any icon. :(

I start the application, and see's an ugly console window, which I think most people dont really need to see. (But maybe it is only part of developement releases?)

Eitherway on the first time that I runned Hydrogen it crashed immediately on startup.

I run it again and this time it starts without crashing. I get greeted by "Welcome to Hydrogen" dialog which states that it uses Qt3, but the QT DLL's in the directory says they are Qt4.

There is a toolbar at the bottom of Hydrogen with 5 buttons used for hide/show some tools but these 5 buttons/icons seems to have some bugged graphics.

Beside that little UI bug for the buttons the application seems to work very well. And doesnt seem too difficult to learn. The GUI looks professional and high quality and nice.

The hotkey for the manual would be more apprioprate if it was F1 instead of Ctrl+?.

The manual does not seem to work, when I click on a link I see a blank page without content.

The links to the website, project page, etc in the "About dialog" are not clickable.

A "..." suffix on menu items that brings up a dialog would be nice since it's pretty much a standard.

On the "View" menu I dont see which tools are shown/hidden since there is no checked/marked indicator.

When I click the maximize button the application becomes large, but when I then double-click on the application bar to make it small again, it goes small then instantly back to large again.

I right-clicked on the bottom toolbar and got up a menu that said "Transport Toolbar", which did hide the toolbar. But then I didnt find out how to get it to appear again.

The highlight color for menu items (#69c5f7 / r105, g197, b247) is imho a bad choice of color and is too bright and gives bad visibility to the almost white text.

The console printed some warnings and errors.
* [WARNING]Preferences [readXmlBool] 'useMidiTransport' node not found
* Warning: no locale found: C:/Program Files/Hydrogen/data/i18n/hydrogen.sv_SE
* Warning: error loading locale: C:/Program Files/Hydrogen/data/i18n/hydrogen.sv_SE.qm
[ERROR]Button Error loading pixmap:

The data directory/folder contains alot of unnescesary CVS files.

Noticed that when you click on "Save as" (which should be "Save as..."), the button says "Open" instead of "Save".

It's not bugged. It's a placeholder :)

True, will be fixed.

Everytime I select Open or Save as from the File menu, when the dialog appears, it makes a sound from my floppy drive. :(
I find that annoying.

The icon in the About dialog is a standard application icon which looks bad. Get rid of the icon or change it against the beautiful H2 icon.

Some of the points you made are very valid, and I agree (the highlight color for example - I already changed the palette again).

Anyway, please keep in mind that the Windows port is very new and immature, and the Qt4-port is really fresh as well. Large parts of the interface will change during the next weeks, the about dialog and the welcome dialog are still from 0.9.2 and will get updated during beta/ RC state. Also, Linux is, and will stay, the main platform, that's where most of the development takes place (including the graphics work ;-) ) - 'till some Windows devs join us, of course (hint hint :-) ). Don't get me wrong, we do care about the Windows and OSX port, but the current installer is a proof-of-concept thing, not intended for daily use. Many of the problems you listed are also valid for the Linux version, BTW (and some are even fixed, like the color palette).

There are lot's of changes almost daily, but I think it'll take another while 'till we release the next stable - therefore, daily builds wouldn't make sense now, as it could lead users (non-developers) to try them, dislike them because of their immature state and lose interest in Hydrogen...

Hai Guys,

This is my Experience with The new Verson of H2 .

"Hydrogen 0.9.4-svn"

At first site it is cool looking. The on line tutorial is of old version of H2 and it was confusing. I agree with U about the Bottom Left corner Buttons Buggy.

[img][/img]:Buggy_Buttons_BackGround.JPG

But the text Highlight is Nice in the New Version(I don't know about old Version)

I got some Problems with inbuilt help(Manual and Tutorial) Because they are'nt Visible. You can see the Images I've attached to this message. It is having white text and at the same time it is having white BackGround too. We can see same defect in the Tools>Preferences>Appearence>Style>WindowsXP. When we change the style to WindowsXP.
