I've downloaded a number of kits, and when I go to intall them I get a message saying it's installing into my .hydrogen/data folder. when I go back to the kit manager to load the kit there's nothing new there. I checked out the .hydrogen/data foler and there's also nothing there. I tried to look through hydrogen.conf but couldn't find anything that pointed to where the kits might be installed. Any ideas? Thanks!

currently you can't import any drumkit using the drumkit manager.
It's a known bug and I'll fix that soon.

Could you explain how you do that (which commands to use in Cygwin)? Thanks

If I am correct it will be:

$ tar xvzf DrumKit.h2drumkit

Thanks Artimio. I used http://www.7-zip.org/ to extract the .tar.gz files first from gz to tar then from tar to a regular folder containing the .h2drumkit file. Then I right-clicked the .h2drumkit and chose "extract" and the output was a strange file called "content." I right-clicked and extrated the "content" file and poof! I get a folder full of flac and wav files, ready to move to the hydrogen directory.

So for anyone wanting hydrogen drumkits but is still ignorant of linux:

1. Download and install http://www.7-zip.org/
2. Download the tar.gz compressed drumkits from http://www.hydrogen-music.org/?p=drumkits/
3. Right-click and choose "extract" on the drmkit files.
4. Repeat step 3 on the output of each extraction (even the ".content" file) until you get a folder full of flac or wav files.
5. Move the folders to C;\Program Files\Hydrogen\data\drumkits (some say C:\Documents and Settings\*yourusername\.hydrogen\data).

I just downloaded hydrogen today, and I'm mighty impressed so far. The only major bug I noticed as of yet was the drumkit thing, and this worked fine for me. 7zip just kept extracting things till it got to the actual files. :-D

So is there no way to import drumkits yet? Also, what's Cygwin?
