Very cool, and very glad to hear this. However, I'd have to disagree with you a little about this - "what's most important in virtually any music style - drums and percussion." There are quite a few other important pieces to the puzzle as well - for starters, you gotta have a melody. ^_^

So how does this work out, if H2 can have 32 samples loaded but this contains 256 sounds. Do you just have to choose 32 that you want for a single song?

Well, I agree of course, but still I myself often face the fact that I have no good drums/percussion to work with, and a year ago I started making them myself from scratch. Rhythm Galaxy vol. 1 are *my* very own sounds, the ones I use myself, and they are really good IMHO.

As about usage, if you have Hydrogen 0.9.3 or earlier, yes, you will have to choose the ones you like and then load them in your song (32 or 64 instruments max, don't remember). But if you have 0.9.4-devel, you can load the supplied H2 library (all 256 sounds) and drag'n'drop them onto the pattern editor (as many as you want).
