First of all I am thrilled that this project is underway! I have been looking for soemthing like this a long time now because I do work on my laptop and I have NO midi onboard, and I'm too cheap to buy a PCMCIA sound card. :)

Now to the question:

I looked at the default kits that came with Hydrogen. From what I can tell, it's just an XML file with the samples. So I copied the XML file to a new folder and copied over a drumkit that I use. (I used to use it through Battery, so they are all.WAV files stereo, 16bit 44.1)

Now just for testing purposes I only had two samples to see if I could make this work. I had the snare and kick. My XML file is as follows:

Now if you notice the kick drum sample has no spaces in the file, the snare does. I did that for testing purposes. Neither work. My only thoughts are that there is an issue with the format of the samples. Can they be stereo 44.1 or do they have to be mono or something? Is a generic .WAV file ok, or do I need to convert them to .FLAC or .OGG or something?

And of course, if I am going about this all wrong, please feel free to call me an itiot and point me in the right direction. :) Thanks!
