Jack "not compiled"?

Hello all.

I have just downloaded and compiled Hydrogen on Ubuntu. I can run hydrogen fine using Alsa or OSS, but the problem comes when I try to run it with Jack. When I select "Jack" in the Audio System tab within Preferences, it displays "not compiled" in red text. Does anyone know what causes this message to be displayed, and any pointers on how to go about fixing it?

Thanks in advance... I'm completely stuck (and a relative newcomer to Linux/Ubuntu to boot...)

You should install hydrogen the Ubuntu way, with your package manager, There you will find precompiled packages from hydrogen. If you really want to compile it yourself you should install the jack-dev package

I had previously installed Hydrogen using the Synaptic package manager in Ubuntu, but could not get Jack to work, hence the reason I wanted to compile the latest version from this web site... which of course is now giving me problems!

But thanks for the tip about Jack-dev. I'll take a look tonight, although I suspect I already have the dev package installed....

The the version that came with Yast (package manager on OpenSuse) does not have Jack driver compiled.

So just like you i'm trying to compile it from source but in says

* QTDIR = /usr/lib/qt3

* Searching for QT library in /usr/lib/qt3 *** Not found ***

*** ERROR: QT library not found. Maybe QTDIR isn't properly set.

The real problem is that qt3 do exists in /usr/lib/qt3.

/usr/lib/qt3/bin is in the PATH variable so i wonder what's going wrong...

If you get it working please tell me.
