I play metal and I am in need of a good heavy drum-kit for hydrogen. Anyone have anything?

Stumbled onto this thread just recently... sorry for any perceived lack of timeliness.

The question was: how do I build a "metal" drumkit in H2. And my response (from a production and real drumming POV): what type of metal?

Early British and American metal is pretty much straight forward rock drumming, so I'd recommend a good rock kit with some judicious EQ. 80s thrashing/shredding introduced the blast beat, so I normally pitch my kick drums up and tune my snare down. And for the more modern stuff, I mix acoustic stuff with loops based on 808/909.

YMMV. Play around with it and enjoy!

Find the "Ultra Acoustic Kit".
Very metal.

My favorite trick is to use the first two kicks as the left and rights of a double bass setup.
Nice.

Yeah, but where can i find it?

Been scouting the forums for it, found the original thread, no links worked there.

I could really use it.

(PS. Using Windows here. No shame in that.)

I have recently made a drumkit basing myself on a Sonor Designer kit. I think it'll suit your needs.

Here's a sample song: http://bahamut54321.free.fr/SonorDrumKitSong.wav

here is the drumkit file: http://bahamut54321.free.fr/SonorDesignerKit.h2drumkit

Hi!

That should work.. can someone send me the h2drumkit file to mauser@smoors.de? I can't check / debug this error without the drumkit :) I suppose you're running linux?

@Bahamut54321:

I could host your kit on my server, if you want. Please give us more details about the used license!

@mauser... any word from Bahamut54321 on that kit he mentioned?

I'd like to try it too. (I've been using Hydrogen for a year or two and just moving into trying heavier rock sounds)

have you tried NDK from naturaldrum.com ? It's actually not free but they have a free version if you register at the forum.
There are 16 samples approx. for each instrument played at different strengths.. so as you can build a layered drumkit (it sounds extremely better than actually using only one sample at different gains).
You can also try analoguedrums.com.. they have also one drumkit for free (bigmono). You also can buy one set of drum samples of different styles (you can hear demos). The prices are very affordabe. All these kits are prepared also to build layered drumkits.

Good luck!

Gerard.

I use samples from http://www.analoguedrums.com/

You can checkout my songs at http://inner-nocturne.pl
to hear how they (drums) sound.
Hydrogen is great, and I really like what I have achieved so far.
