Hi all,

I recently posted an updated drumkit definition for the ns_kit7free samples. Now that I have got the bit between my teeth creating drumkit files, I thought I would have a shot at a Congas kit.

On Pete Lockett's site (http://www.petelockett.com/), I found some decent samples and a great tutorial on programming percussion with drum machines, complete with a nice samba groove. You can find the tutorial with lots of screen shots for Battery, but that's no good for us, so I took the drum notation and created the same sample groove in Hydrogen.

Here is the kit and samples - I standardised the naming convention of the samples that Pete created but it's pretty obvious which file maps to the original sample.

Have fun.

PS: This kit is offered as a small offering of thanks to the team who created Hydrogen. You have done a great job!

Bum...

The zip file containing the kit and definition is 600K, which is too big to be attached. If an admin wants to contact me with an email address I will send it to them for posting up on the site.

Use putfile.com I used it in my other thread. You don't need to sign up and it will stay up for 30 days. just click on it every week or so and it wont cancel the download for folks.

EDIT: I made a kit with the samples form petelockett.com lessons-midi programming lesson. Sorry I can't direct link, his website is designed to only work through his main address.

Here is the .xml file. Download his kit, unzip. Put the drum samples and this .xml into a folder in your drumkit folder:Mkae a new folder called "samba_with_pete_lockett"

I doubt he will give permission to upload the .h2drumkit exported file. He wants forlks to go to his site, his lessons are good and the one lesson these samples come from is based on Battery but you can stil learn. So all I think I am allowed to offer is the .xml.

Have fun! There are more samples on his site too, good tabla programming lessons with good samples.

If hydrogen was a little easier to load drumkits into on windows and not so buggy on some PCs with windows, he may be interested in doing lessons on it. Maybe it is worth contacting him? Anyone hang with Pete Locket who can give him a LiveCD? Get him to use linux and hydrogen? :p Hydrogen drum software was one of the reasons I tried a bunch of audio linux CDs, so this is not such a strange thing!

Hi everyone,

ErnysPercussion is good, but it misses a primeira, secunda and tercera surdo sound. Has anyone this samples? No problem for me to host them for the next years.

Does it include Surdo samples?
I would be more than happy if you would share your work!

I tried to find a place to purchase g-zero's Carnival Drums,
but couldn't find any reseller near Luxembourg / Europe.

I'd love to have the samba samples file too

hyrdrogen-music@russellengland.com

I've just joined a local community band, having great fun!! But I don't have any musical experience. The hydrogen tool would be great for me and the rest of the band to practice to.

We have just had a workshop from a professional samba player who has introduced us to notation, so hopefully I can set this up in hydrogen too.

Cheers, Russ
